Wednesday’s Spiritual Uplift 4/25/07

“Gratitude is one of the chief graces of human existence and is crowned in heaven with a consciousness of unity”

–Ernest Holmes–

As we here at the Community for Spiritual Living begin our Prosperity program, we focus this week on gratitude. This state of grace is a catalyst that allows us to remember the goodness already manifested in our lives and the possibility of even greater bounty. We live in an infinite universe, sourced by an abundant Spirit; there is no limit to our supply except that which we may impose upon ourselves by “not-enough” thinking. Whatever we focus on increases, so if we focus on that for which we are grateful, we increase the volume of the goodness we receive. It’s a simple cause-and-effect activity that requires no special training or exceptional power–just the willingness to be conscious of the many blessings we already experience.

A wise Buddhist woman named Sono gave a seeker of peace two sentences to repeat in order to create a peaceful heart: “I am grateful for everything. I have no complaint whatsoever.” These simple words can open our hearts and minds to receive that which is already before us and that which we have not even begun to imagine. An attitude of gratitude opens us to the oneness that surrounds and indwells us and prepares us to be the receivers of our hearts’ desires.

“If the only prayer you ever say is, ‘Thank you,’ it is sufficient.”

–Meister Eckhart–
